I have the opportunity to work at a school with children who have special needs. Yesterday the class I worked with were age range 16-18. I4 students and myself discussed calming techniques. We made circles (basically pie shaped, like a balance wheel). Each pie slice we added what calms them down. The entries ranged from. Music, meditation, walking, quiet time, books, cake. Yes cake was an answer. My dog. Drawing. And so on. Several had these circles on taped to the desk. When they felt they couldn't communicate properly they are now able to just point to what they want. It helped them understand proper communication which also leads to
behavior modification. It also empowered them to know that they needed calming down and also that their needs are important and are being acknowledged. Mine included music, a warm bath, smells calm me down flowers, baked bread, essential oils,. Think about your list. What do you need to bring you back to your calm self? Do the people around you respect and acknowledge your needs. Why or why not?

Sometimes mother nature isn't so nice. Like yesterday, I was out at the American Cancer Society's Making Strides Breast Cancer Walk that was held in Flint Michigan. I didn't think it was that cold. We really are swinging the temps lately. I was wrong. wrong wrong wrong. I wish I had used this before I left the house, now I'm windburned :( this magical face balm has coconut and olive oils, combined with a unique blend of California fruit, and topped off with both shea and cocoa butters. the smell is from essential oils, (orange, lavender and pine.) It really is a great natural barrier between your skin and the elements. I began using it at my sons soccer games. oh those fall late night games sitting on the bleachers are no picnic. These days I am more likely to use it walking the winter festivities. When I remember to use it. If your interested in getting one here is the link ---> https://www.perfectlyposh.com/AngelasGlam/wildcrafted-california-face-balm and yes I am an affiliate with Perfectly Posh. They have an awesome product line with nothing over $25 and it's all naturally based ingredients. |
