I love collecting jars. I never know what to do with them, but none the less I have jars. I store my craft supplies in them. Buttons, tiles, beads, bottle caps. It's organized craft hoarding. Pickle jars are a popular size in my collection so that's what I started with. The chatted up a lady at Joanne's craft store about this paint. I didn't want chalkboard paint, or glossy enamel, but it needed to stick to glass and be matte. She suggested this. (Thank you nice lady it was exactly what I wanted). I decided to make fake labels, so I just masked the off an area with tape and painted. These are not perfect labels. Who cares. I needed a second paint to actually write the label, which I didn't buy. Update later
. Ta-da. Jars with labels. Now for the herb garden. I used some pebbles from my garden walk (shhh don't tell hubby). And some tiny broken tiles for drainage. It's a must have. Something for drainage. Your herbs will not grow. Potting soil was next and then I purchased some stater herbs. Today I used cilantro and cinnamon basil. Seeds will work to, but I'm impatient. I wanted the full effect today. Next time seeds. So now I just added the plants, water and a sunny spot. You can do this. It's easy. Who has a project for all these lids I will have left over?

I'm always finding bottles on my walks. A perk for living in the city, I guess. Unfortunately lots of people just drop their trash wherever. I love up cycling so I'm always bringing home something to add to my ever growing stash of recycled art ideas. . This one I added turquoise and orange colored glass tiles, a ceramic heart, glass stars and a blue glob. White grout and it's sealed for water protection.
My Southwest Mosaic Love Bottle is ready to be sent to you. $20. Shipping depends on your location. It's in the "work in progress store "now. Im starting classes at Howe's Art in Swartz Creek Mi 48473. If any locals are interested #mosaicheartworks #southwest #upcycle #reclaimedart #lovebottle #mosaic I will be adding this piece to the store this week. Along with many others. This is going to be a class this spring. The art of mosaics is so stress relieving. We chat, break tiles, create fun art and sometimes solve some problems. Life coaching doesn't have to be all clinical.
"Tree" its as simple as that it's just a tree This was an experiment with mixed media pieces. Beads, buttons, fancy ceramic heart pieces and lots of broken tile and glass. Ready to hang. $25. Shipping would be additional. I would have to measure it but it's around 12x12. #mosaic #recycledart #upcycled #mosaictree. So many bags of this and that in my kitchen and bathroom. I decided to just put all those odds and ends in jars. Cotton balls, bath salts, q-tips, band aids. Hair ties & hobby pins. These little things just make a messy cupboard. Here I have a Snapple bottle, a peanut butter jar, and a pickle jar. Just wash and fill. It certainly looks prettier. I later painted the tops so they all matched. It just looks more pleasing and I saved a few jars from going to the landfill. Now onto tackle the kitchen cupboards. #recycling #greenliving #greensoulwellness #bathroomjars
Spent a few minutes in the garden today. It's been so hot and no rain. My rain barrels are empty and I really don't want to use the water hose as I live in Flint, MI (yeah that FLINT, Michigan) The lead water issues are not resolved by a long shot and I can only pour so much bottled water on the garden. That is something that really concerns me all this bottled water, what are we doing with the plastic bottles? I highly doubt most of my city is actually recycling them. Tragically I am sure they are going to the landfills. Back to the garden.... I honestly haven't been keeping up on it much and hoping for the best this year. One thing is my succulents, hostas, blackeyed susans and lily's have been loving the heat. Veggies & Herbs, not so much. Kale is thriving when I can keep the bunnies out. Several of my lavender plants have just given up. I am crossing my fingers they come back next year. 0 CommentsOOOPS ! 7/13/2016 0 Comments So somehow while updating the site I lost the blog. Nice.
