I have the opportunity to work at a school with children who have special needs. Yesterday the class I worked with were age range 16-18. I4 students and myself discussed calming techniques. We made circles (basically pie shaped, like a balance wheel). Each pie slice we added what calms them down. The entries ranged from. Music, meditation, walking, quiet time, books, cake. Yes cake was an answer. My dog. Drawing. And so on. Several had these circles on taped to the desk. When they felt they couldn't communicate properly they are now able to just point to what they want. It helped them understand proper communication which also leads to
behavior modification. It also empowered them to know that they needed calming down and also that their needs are important and are being acknowledged. Mine included music, a warm bath, smells calm me down flowers, baked bread, essential oils,. Think about your list. What do you need to bring you back to your calm self? Do the people around you respect and acknowledge your needs. Why or why not?

I had really hoped to have journal-ed a little better within the last few months. A tool I will recommend you do. Just don't follow my lead. I just do not do it well. It's a great reflection to look back on. In my case...That didn't happen, but let's just re-cap a little. I finished a very intense 6 month program and now a certified holistic nutritional coach. I look back and think what?!?! My final was based on several courses. As I was putting together the final portfolio I just sat there in amazement of all the stuff I've learned, all the new tools I have to use. I am really looking forward to and the next 6 months of this journey. It will be quite the ride as I am specializing with a few new subjects. Urban farming, auriculotherapy- that's a thing? My favorite, essential oils a further study, and stress reduction. - Hey I need this class now, ahaha.
